CompTIA A+

The CompTIA A+ certification validates the latest skills needed by today's computer support professionals. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification recognized by major hardware and software vendors, distributors and resellers. The A+ certification confirms a technician's ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.

The A+ certification is for entry-level computer technicians. Every business uses computers and skilled technicians are in demand. An A+ certification opens the door to an exciting career in computer technology at an affordable price.

Having an A+ certification proves that you have a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.

Employers Look for the A+ Certification

Companies know the value of the A+ certification and require their supervisors to be A+ certified. The A+ course consists of two parts, the A+ Essentials and the either the A+ IT Technician, A+ Remote Support Technician, or the A+ Depot Technician. This course covers materials for the A+ Essentials and the A+ IT Technician exams.

Required Exams for A+

The CompTIA A+ credential requires two tests. Exams will cover hardware and software with added elements of security and soft skills, as well as safety and environmental issues.

CompTIA Network+

The CompTIA Network+ is the perfect entry point into a networking career. Network+ validates the knowledge and skills of networking professionals. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification that recognizes a technician's ability to describe the features and functions of networking components and to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, install, operate and configure basic network infrastructure.

Many corporations recommend or require the Network+ certification for their IT employees. As the demand for skilled network support professionals grows, Network+ is quickly becoming the standard for networking competency. In fact, many IT certifications integrate Network+ into their curriculums. Microsoft added Network+ into their Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) program, and other corporations such as Novell, Cisco and HP also recognize CompTIA Network+ as part of their certification tracks.

Required Exam for Network+

The CompTIA Network+ credential requires one test. The exam tests technical ability in the areas of media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation and network support.

CompTIA Security+

CompTIA Security+ validates knowledge of systems security, network infrastructure, access control, assessments and audits, cryptography and organizational security. It is an international, vendor-neutral security certification that is taught at colleges, universities and commercial training centers around the world.

Because human error is the number one cause for a network security breach, CompTIA Security+ is recognized by the technology community as a valuable credential that proves competency with information security. Many corporations recommend or require the Security+ certification for their IT employees. Network security is a major issue for corporations today and as the demand for secure networks grows, Security+ is quickly becoming the standard. CompTIA Security+ is the perfect addition to any networking career.
