MCSE & MCSA 2003 Security Emphasis Bootcamp
Combine Security+ with your MCSE to emphasize network and computer security.
The six certifications you will obtain after completing Real MCSE's computer security training are:
- MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional)
- MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator)
- MCSA: Security
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
- MCSE: Security
- CompTIA Security+
The Security+ certification from CompTIA (Computer Technology Industry Association) is a vendor-neutral security certification that makes a powerful add-on to the MCSE: Windows 2003 Security certification.
Phase 1
Exam 70-270 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Windows XP Professional.
This exam is the first you will take in your computer security training, typically on Thursday morning with the camp starting Monday. You will take the 70-290 exam in the afternoon.
Exam 70-290 Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment
This exam is the first that focuses more specifically on network security training.
Phase 2
Exam 70-291 Implementing, Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment.
This exam covers major topics in network and computer security training, including the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) suite, DNS (Domain Name Server) and DHCP (Dynamic Configuration Host Protocol). You will start your network security training for this exam on Friday and take the exam Monday.
Exam 70-293 Planning and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.
Exam topics include all the open standards that Windows 2003 Server supports like DNS, routing protocols, IPSEC (IP Security), digital certificates, NAT (Network Address Translation), and kerberos authentication. You will start this computer security training material Saturday afternoon and take the exam Tuesday morning.
Exam 70-294 Planning, Implementing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure. This exam covers one big concept - Active Directory. Using Group Policy is the primary focus of the exam since it is a tool that truly can lower your total cost of ownership and administration.
Phase 3 - Elective Exams
The elective exams are case studies, and you will have four or five cases per exam. The exam questions will completely fill one or two pages before you even see the possible answers. This is intimidating at first, but the test prep will give you a great feel for how to deal with this format.
Exam 70-298 Designing Security for a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network.
Take this exam Saturday morning.
Exam 70-299 Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003Network
This certification exam measures your ability to implement, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot security in a Windows Server 2003 network infrastructure and also plan and configure a Windows Server 2003 PKI.
Exam SY0-201 Once you have completed the Microsoft exams, you will begin your computer and network security training for the Security+ certification. The Security+ exam requires computer security training in five domains in information security. They are General Security Concepts, Communications Security, Infrastructure Security, Basics of Cryptography, and Operational/Organizational Security.
